Los Alamos Scarecrow Fest
In the ‘Old West with a new twist’ community of Los Alamos, the first Scarecrow Fest (2013) was coordinated by Los Alamos Merchant Society members — a creative bunch that delighted guests with their scarecrow entries inhabiting businesses such as art galleries, wine tasting rooms and restaurants, along Los Alamos’ main thoroughfare of Bell Street. Visitors and locals were able to vote for their favorite scarecrow during the Los Alamos Third Saturday Evening Stroll, with the theme of pumpkins & scarecrows, which was held October 19, 2013. The most-liked 2013 scarecrow went on to compete for the “2013 Harvest Cup: Best in the Valley” award.
Here in 2016, Los Alamos returns for its fourth year of participation. With all of these pioneering Los Alamos businesses creating scarecrows, it will be a dynamic competition!
This year, visitors will be able to pick up a ballot at Municipal Winemakers. After viewing all of the entrants, votes may be cast for their favorite scarecrow – the “Best Los Alamos Scarecrow”.
